Kexborough welcomed the Duke of Kent in this photograph when he came to open the new allotments

around 1932. The Photograph captures the Duke meeting some of the 34 unemployed residents who each

recived a quarter acre of land in a scheme financed by the Quakers. Some of the allotments were on land opposite BP on Huddersfield Road and some were opposite Y-Pas Chippy.
