This is Kexborough Chapel it was on Bence Lane (top end) Built in 1885 it was the first church in Kexborough. A local man called William Challenger who didn't go to school and at the age of sixteen was well known for drinking and rowdy behaviour at the White Bear was responsible for its being. By the time he was Twenty one he had become a Christian and along with others like him were responsible for the building of the church.

(he became known locally has the Bishop of Kek.) The photo would have been taken from the fields at the back of our shop!
